Hi. My name is David Glickman and welcome to SIGNED, SOLD, DELIVERED Books. I have been collecting signed books for over 50 years and have amassed close to 500 books from a wide range of genres.
How It All Began
The collection began in 1970. My uncle, Sonny Schwartz, was the co-author of a book by NFL player Johnny Sample called "Confessions of a Dirty Ball Player." Uncle Sonny gave me a copy of the book, which he signed, along with Johnny Sample, and their other co-author Fred Hamilton. As a 14 year old voracious reader, I was thrilled to have a book actually signed by its author! And thus began my brand new hobby--which morphed into a passion--of collecting autographed books.
How The Collection Grew
The first books in the collection were acquired at author signings at book stores. Then in the 1990s, I discovered the ABA (American Booksellers Association) Conference, which non-book sellers like me could attend by paying a higher fee. Through the author signings at the ABA Conferences, I was able to really start growing the collection in a large way. Since then, I have continued to add to the collection through online purchases, retail store purchases, author signings, and gifts from friends and family who know of my collection.
What's Being Sold at the Florida Antiquarian Book Fair and Why
If you're reading this, it's probably because you've seen my name on the list of exhibitors for the Florida Antiquarian Book Fair. I've decided to downsize my collection and this amazing Book Fair is the perfect place for me to offer the books to like-minded book collectors. I'm not selling any books online or in any other venue. They will only be available at the Book Fair.
Mind you, I won't be selling my entire collection. I'll still be holding onto a number of books that are my favorites. (Including the one by my Uncle Sonny!) But you'll have a chance to purchase the rest of the collection--and at prices that will likely be very attractive.
The collection has more non-fiction than fiction. There are many authors from the world of Entertainment, Sports, Politics, and Business. With the exception of only one or two books, none of the books have bookplates--they are all signed inside the front pages. I've been a purist with the collection and preferred books without bookplates.
Even if you're not in the market for signed books, I hope you'll stop by my booth and say "Hello."
